Samara Hoose is a caring and dedicated litigator with experience crafting compelling testimony for and at trial. Samara has played key roles on an array of high-stakes matters, ranging from breach-of-contract and shareholder disputes to products liability and intellectual property matters.

Before joining Olson Grimsley, Samara was a trial lawyer at Bartlit Beck LLP. While at Bartlit Beck, Samara served as trial counsel for Align Technology in several arbitrations against SmileDirectClub (“SDC”). Samara helped recover $63 million in favor of Align and complete defense victories against SDC.

At Northwestern Law, Samara worked in the Center on Wrongful Convictions of Youth. Samara helped obtain the release of Brian Dement, a prisoner who falsely confessed to murder while inebriated. Though Innocence Network organizations conducted post-conviction DNA testing exonerating Mr. Dement in 2017, the court refused to vacate Mr. Dement’s conviction. Samara and her classmate drafted Mr. Dement’s appellate briefs to the West Virginia Supreme Court of Appeals, resulting in a rare habeas win in West Virginia. Samara subsequently worked within the Wrongful Convictions clinic to conduct groundbreaking research on people who falsely confess to killing loved ones, a final frontier in false confessions research.

Samara graduated order of the coif from Northwestern University Pritzker School of Law, and then clerked for the Honorable Mary Schroeder of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals.

Before law school, Samara worked as an urban planner throughout the American West. Samara’s work helped bring transit-dependent populations reliable public transportation.
