Jason is an accomplished trial and appellate lawyer who has been nationally recognized for his work. Since Olson Grimsley opened its doors in September 2023, Jason has tried three cases to judgment and presented arguments in cases in state and federal courts across the country, including in the Colorado Supreme Court (watch here) and in the United States Supreme Court (listen here). Before joining Olson Grimsley, Jason was a trial lawyer at Bartlit Beck LLP for 11 years where he was trusted by industry leaders in high-stakes cases.
Jason’s extensive trial and appellate experience spans matters ranging from mass torts and products liability to antitrust, intellectual property, commercial litigation, and constitutional impact litigation. For example, Jason served as co-lead trial counsel in a plaintiff-side commercial arbitration which resulted in total victory and a recovery for the client in excess of $75 million. He recently co-led a trial team in Cook County, Illinois against two makers of Zantac—GSK and Boehringer Ingelheim—for causing his client’s prostate cancer, ultimately securing a settlement on confidential terms with GSK and trying the case against Boehringer Ingelheim to a hung jury after two prior trials had resulted in total defense verdicts (story here). He helped lead a trial team in a week-long trial in Colorado state court related to the application of Section 3 of the Fourteenth Amendment, which Jason then argued on appeal in both the Colorado Supreme Court and the United States Supreme Court. Jason briefed and argued an appeal in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit that successfully preserved key patent claims in a $100+ million patent case against the world’s largest automakers, briefed and argued an appeal in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit that successfully defended the trial court’s decision in a high-profile 250-plaintiff mass tort case, served as trial counsel in a $1 billion 10-week antitrust case in the Southern District of New York, and secured dismissal on the pleadings of several commercial cases in which plaintiffs sought damages in the tens of millions of dollars.
Jason’s commitment to public service is exemplified by his pro bono work, which has included bringing a civil lawsuit and securing a favorable settlement on behalf of the family of a mentally ill inmate who died by suicide while in solitary confinement, serving as appellate counsel for the estate of an innocent victim of a fatal shooting during a SWAT raid, and trying a case in immigration court that resulted in asylum for a client who had been the victim of gender-based violence in Guatemala.
Jason has received widespread recognition for his work. He was recently honored as one of National Law Journal’s “Rising Stars of the Plaintiff Bar,” has been honored every year since 2022 as one of Lawdragon’s 500 Leading Litigators in America, and was recognized as a member of Benchmark Litigation’s “40 & Under List.”
Jason clerked for Honorable Justice Elena Kagan of the U.S. Supreme Court and Honorable Neil Gorsuch of the Tenth Circuit. Jason graduated magna cum laude from Harvard Law School in 2011, after earning a B.A. in Political Science and Government from Harvard University in 2008.
